The 3 butterflies represent the 3 chromosomes on the 21st strand of DNA paired with the other 22 pairs of moths representing the chromosomes that make up the DNA of our loved ones with Down syndrome. We were told a lot of devastating news when Margo was born (moths) and honestly didn’t know how to feel with the diagnosis. But now, we know that life is so much more precious and sweet with our Margo (butterflies).
